Digital preservation policy

EcoSur: Innovation, Technology and Sustainable Development of Latin America is compatible with the LOCKSS (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe) system, which guarantees the magazine a permanent and secure archive. LOCKSS is an open source program developed by Stanford University Library that allows libraries to curate selected web journals by regularly searching registered journals to collect new published content and archive it. Each file is continually validated against records from other libraries, so any damaged or lost content can be restored using those records or the journal itself.

Depositing therein is done through the PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN), which deposits content using the LOCKSS Program, which offers decentralized and distributed preservation. This allows journals that are not part of any other digital preservation service (such as CLOCKSS or Portico) the ability to be preserved for long-term access.

See the EcoSur LOCKSS Publication Manifesto page: Innovation, Technology and Sustainable Development of Latin America.

Additionally, EcoSur: Innovation, Technology and Sustainable Development of Latin America uses persistent identifiers that you can consult in our policies section and carries out an incremental backup policy every 12 hours provided by the servers through JetBackup 5.
